I am so excited to share a wonderful new modern quilting book with you. Not only does it contain beautiful quilts and fun projects for all levels of sewers, but I was lucky enough to be able to draw the technical illustrations for the book! At the end of 2011, I was contacted to see if I would be interested in doing the technical illustrations for a sewing/quilting book. For me this was a dream come true! (Seriously, I love to illustrate and technical illustrations are like mini puzzles, those quilting diagrams are a blast to put together) Luckily, I managed to get the chance to work on the project and am so excited with the outcome.

The book is so well-thought out, it contains great instructions, amazing photos and well-written instructions. It definitely deserves a spot in any quilter's book collection.

For fun, I thought I would share a few of my favorite illustrations from the book:

and my absolute favorite is this one (I am just in love with that pencil and ruler, what can I say, it's awesome!):

I am so honored to have been part of such an amazing project. Not only that but, Kelly and Andie, F+W Media, and the publisher, generously gave me an extra copy of the book to giveaway here on the blog!

My Dressform Needs a Name Giveaway....

so I got a new dressform and she needs a name... (when I was in school every dressform had a name, this way you always knew which one you used.) There are two main parts to the giveaway, coming up with the names and voting! If the steps are confusing just let me know and I will try and clarify things better. Also, I am only able to ship to the US right now... due to limited funds. 
 

So here are the details:

Step 1: Leave a comment with a name for her and anything else you want to add.  (make sure you have a way I can get back to you)

Step 2: You have until Monday, October 12 at 3 pm to get your name in.

Step 3: I will read them all and choose my favorite 5 names and post the top 5 on Tuesday morning.

Step 4: Starting Tuesday leave a comment to vote for your favorite name until Thursday, October 15 at 5 pm mountain time. 

Step 5: On Friday, I will add up all the votes and the number one choice will win this:

Sugar cookies, the winners, and fun things...

Well, good morning everyone! Today, I have been baking sugar cookies and a chocolate sandcastle cake for this afternoon. I think that sugar cookies are the hardest thing to make, if anyone out there has found an awesome sugar cookie recipe will you let me know especially if it is like those Lofthouse ones they sell in the grocery store in all their cakey frosted up glory!  Anyways, I did want to let everyone know that June 11, I will be posting a free pattern/tutorial on simple shorts for children sizes 2T-6. They are the ones I made for Xavier a couple weeks ago and they have an optional outside pocket. They will work for boys or girls and don't take to long to whip up! I also plan to have another giveaways sometime in the next month-month and a half. So stay tuned for that!
