The 2012 goal recap...

so I better fit in a 2012 recap of the goals (really, I have been putting this off....) I know I sort of fell off the bandwagon with the monthly updates and just in general where I am at on them... to be honest I really just fell off the goal bandwagon around the halfway point this year. I can already tell you several of the goals are going to probably end up a little revised and added to my list for before I turn 30 (i know the big 3-0! I think I am really going to have to step up my game with the goal making). Anyways, here's the recap (if your curious for a more in depth look at the 2012 goals click here)

• Yoga-
this one was probably the one goal that I really tried to work on, i attempt to do one yoga routine per week if not more plus I stretch throughout the day. I love it and can see it being a normal almost every day part of my life. I will say that my flexibility has been really improving and I am working my way into more advanced poses.

• Eat less processed food
well, this one was a little touch and go. For awhile, I was really on top of it but the it has been a landslide the past few months. They key for me is to pre-plan that's when I am a little more on top of it. Otherwise, it is a lot harder and easier for me to fall back into old habits.

• Support Independent/local business
I could have been better on this one (can everyone say TARGET! seriously one of the hardest to break), but I did try and I actually have several purchases coming up that will fall into this category :) This is one of the goals that I was probably the most passionate about and really should have worked harder on.

• Throw a party
Technically, I threw X an awesome 5th birthday party, so I am going to count this one as done!

• kzjostudio into a real business
hmmm, this is one of those things where I really didn't try a whole lot. I even really let the blogging slide, but you know what its ok. I really think that I needed that break and I have clearer goals for this for 2013. (fingers crossed they work out!)

• Become an "official runner"
This was the one goal I have really attempted. I did the color run 5k, ran on the treadmill, hit some trails & some pavement, and I am going to say that I am a runner because I am out there trying (or in my house sweating it up on the treadmill). I am doing the best I can and am going to just keep going!

• Make more!
I really didn't make enough this past year, seriously, I realized it is one of my key outlets. When I am not creating, making, doing, I am just not happy. Simple as that. Time is probably the hardest things for me which all really comes to prioritizing (hello, to the time sucks known as pinterest, instagram & facebook). Carving out time for this would have really helped, however, I realize now that this is one of the key things to my happiness in general!

• Studio re-do
One more wall to paint, a closet to organize and a few piles to go and I think I will be satisfied with this one. It's never going to be perfect (I thrive in clutter), it's going to be a never ending project :)

• Family photo shoot
Didn't happen. My lack of coordination, time, or just plain sort of forgot about this one. This is going to end up being on the list again!

• Dating
Hmm, what to say about this one. I went out a few times, talked to a few people, a just really let myself start being open to the idea. This is going to be a slow going things (i'm just not there yet) as my trust level is just really not there (broken hearts anyone), probably really guarded, and its just plain hard (probably another sign that I'm not really ready). One day I am sure things will fall into place.

Finally, snow & jogging...

Sorry about the missing in action lately on the blog front, in between projects, work, and other fun randomness things have been a little on the crazy side of things. Anyways, today some snow finally started to fall (the above photo was at the beginning of the snow storm), which totally made my day! I spent most of the day working on household chores and listening to muder, she wrote while illustrating. That always makes for an awesome day!

Also, I thought I should do a quick little check-in on my 2012 goals (since it has been awhile).

- goal 1: yoga update, tried to find a yoga studio, but there isn't one here! It looks like I might have to take a class from the y. I really need to break out some of my yoga DVDs.

- goal 2: less processed food, really going to be working on this in February by starting with a cleanse. I think it is going to a great way to get on track with better eating habits :)

- goal 3: buy local and/or independent, I have been trying to do this quite often, my favorite purchase as of late, was the dessert of the month club (yay for cross stitching making a comeback!)

- goal 4: throw a party, I have a few ideas, I just need to pick a date

- goal 5: kzjostudio into thriving business, I have been revising my business plan & making goals

- goal 6: become an "official" runner, I want to be able to run a half marathon by my birthday, so I am spending lots of quality time on this:

- goal 7: make more with my stash, I have used quite a few things like yarn and other random things in the last few weeks

- goal 8: go on a weekend adventure, I have a game plan for that one ;)

- goal 9: organize & clean out my studio, I finally picked out paint colors and in march the revamp is going to begin

- goal 10: family photo, I am planning this for June or July

- goal 11: increase my knitting skills, this has been the one goal that I have really worked on lately, between cowl neck scarves, baby booties, and starting a hat, I feel like I have made major progress on this one

- goal 12: re-enter the dating world, slowly but surely working on this one. (little side note: since this goal is a little more private to me, I won't be sharing tons of details on this one.) Just know that I am making progress on it :)

Goals 2012...

The first check in on the new list! Since some of my goals are a little broad, I thought I should go into a little more detail on exactly what/how I am going to get them accomplished (over the next couple weeks, I will be sharing these)

•Do more yoga
Main goal- get into a regular routine with yoga & conquer a few advanced poses.
How- try at least 3 different types of yoga, take at least 2-4 classes from an instructor, and practice at least 3 times a week.

•Eat less processed food
Main goal- eat more real food less fake, attempting a 90/10 ratio ideally, but to eat as much good for you as possible.
How- cooking and prepping more at home (even baking bread, planning lunches in advance), growing lots of yummy things in our garden, trying new recipes and expanding my cooking horizons, eating less meat.

•Support independent and/or local businesses
Main goal- support mom & pop, budding start-ups, crafty people, and local or independent shops (including lots of handmade) instead of big box.
How- being more cautious and thoughtful on where I spend my $$$$, shop more on etsy or big cartel, attend community events and eat at local restaurants.

•Throw a party
Main goal- a just because party with no real reason except to celebrate the people I love in my life.
How- cook a bunch of wonderful dishes, use lots of great entertaining things that my grandmother gave me, pick a month in which not a ton of other activities are happening.

So there are the first four, next week I will share another four. Now its back to the mini golden girls marathon and some sewing (hopefully, I will have a few sewing & knitting finishes to share by the weekend!)
